Xi'an University of Technology

Xi'an University of Technology is one of the first batch of pilot universities for comprehensive reform in higher education in China. It is also an institution selected for the "Central and Western Higher Education Revitalization Plan". It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Shaanxi Province. It is a key university for high-level development in Shaanxi Province and a university under the national "Double First-Class" program for development in Shaanxi. The school is one of the important training bases and research centers for senior specialized talents in the water conservancy and hydropower, and equipment manufacturing industries in China.

The predecessor of this school was Beijing Institute of Machinery and Shaanxi University of Technology. The educational history of both institutions can be traced back to 1919 when the Beijing Public Commercial Supplementary School was established and 1937 when the National Xi'an Temporary University (later renamed National Northwest United University) was founded. In 1972, Beijing Institute of Machinery and Shaanxi University of Technology merged to form Shaanxi Institute of Machinery, which was under the jurisdiction of the First Machinery Industry Ministry. In 1994, the school was renamed Xi'an University of Technology. In 1998, the school was transferred to Shaanxi Province, and its management system was adjusted to be jointly managed by the central government and Shaanxi Province, with Shaanxi Province taking the lead in management. The school's anniversary began in 1949 when the People's Government took over the predecessor school of Beijing Institute of Machinery, namely National North Beijing Senior Industrial Vocational School. May 1st is the school's anniversary.
